Lawrence Mumper Jr., 76, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at his home in Dayton, Iowa.

A come and go visitation for Lawrence Jr. will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Peterson American Legion Post #323. Lawrence Calvin Mumper Jr. was born on June 24, 1947, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Lawrence and Agnes (Slawson) Mumper.

Lawrence graduated with the Central Webster High School class of 1965, and following his education served his Country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam.

Lawrence was previously married to Sharon Smith. To this union two daughters were born: Melissa and Krista.

Lawrence was employed by Comparts Boar Store, Dayton Farm Drainage, and later at the turkey farm in Ellsworth until retiring. In retirement he worked part time, doing custodial work for the Fort Museum in Fort Dodge.

On July 7, 1984, Larwence was united in marriage to June Herrick at the Christian Church in Lehigh. They were blessed with one son: Calvin Mumper.

Lawrence was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, and fishing. He supported Pheasants Forever, loved to read, and spend time with family and friends. He had a delightful sense of humor!

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Douglas Mumper, and best friends Donnie and Tom Rowley.

Survivors include his wife, June Mumper of Dayton, IA; two daughters, Melissa Mumper and her husband, Sam Smith of St. Joseph, MO, and Krista and her husband Mark Bowser of Clay Center, KS; one son Calvin Mumper of Lehigh, IA; two grandchildren, Nathaniel and Oliver Bowser; his sister, Patricia (Ron) Axne; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
