Alois "Al" Wagner

Alois T. Wagner, 82, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Alois's wishes were to be cremated. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father Larry McCarty will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. Flag presentation by the Boone Veteran's Council. Alois Theodore Wagner was born on March 26, 1932, in Stratford, Wisconsin, the son of Alex and Hattie (Huffensburger) Wagner.

He attended college for two years in St. Paul, Minnesota to become a technical civil engineer.

On May 13, 1961, Alois was united in marriage to Adeline Frodl, at Holy Name Church in Wausau, Wisconsin.

He worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Postal Service. He retired after many years from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He spent many happy hours in his leisure time on woodworking and carpentry projects, including birdhouses and dollhouses.

Survivors include his wife, Adeline Wagner of Ogden, Iowa; 5 children: Brian Wagner, Debbie (Gaylin) Shaw, Lisa (Kevin) Shimoda, Laurie (Bonnie) Wagner, and Gloria Nikolai; 11 grandchildren: Forest (Beth), Ryan, and Kaylee Wagner, Becky, Dani, and Jacob Shaw, Angela, Thierry and Stephanie Shimoda, Ben (Kat) Tuffield and Joel Wenzel.; and 1 great-grandchild, Adeline Wagner. His remaining siblings include Dorothy Bernas, Leona (John) Schutt, and Rose (John) Herrmann.

Alois was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Hattie Wagner, his brother, Jerry Wagner and sister, Marian David.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
