Anita J. Peters, 89, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10: 30 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Pastor Kelly Gafkjen will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Boone. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden with family present from 6:00 to 8:00.

Anita Jane Porter was born on January 25, 1923, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Elster and Olive (Clark) Porter. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1941. Anita married Errett Young in 1942. To this union four children were born: Rita, Larry, Barb and Cindy. Anita worked at Bournes for several years. On October 30, 1971, she married Jack Peters in Ogden, Iowa. The couple lived in Des Moines, Waterloo and Omaha before returning to Ogden in 1987.

Anita was a member of Bethel Church and The Purple Hat Club. She enjoyed gardening, and had participated in the Ogden Gardening Tour. Her hobbies included crafts and interior decorating. Anita was very family oriented, she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed watching humming birds, squirrels, and camping.

Survivors include her children, Larry Young of Boone, Iowa, Barbara (Mike) Barker of Pilot Mound, Iowa, and Cindy Watson of Boone, Iowa; son-in-law, Mike Lingelbach of Nevada, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Porter of Ogden, Iowa; James (Betty) Porter of California and Max (Alice) Porter of Ogden, Iowa; two sisters, Julia (Mel) Meyers of Ogden, Iowa, and Jean Majoros of Ogden, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack in 2009; daughter, Errita Lingelbach; and grandson, Andy Moore; two brothers, Lawrence and Donald Porter.

The family is very grateful of Iowa Hospice for many months of wonderful care and support.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
