Cheryl L. McCabe, 72, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away at her home on Friday, January 7, 2022.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m., in the Dayton Cemetery. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Cheryl Lyn Cunningham was born on April 16, 1949, in Nevada, Missouri, the daughter of Phillip and Marilyn (Driggs) Cunningham. She received her education in Hazelwood, Missouri, graduating from Hazelwood High School class of 1967.

Cheryl was married to Norman Foster for 11 years. They later divorced.

On January 30, 1982, Cheryl was united in marriage to Larry McCabe in Des Moines, Iowa.

Cheryl was a homemaker for many years and later worked in a call center prior to retiring. Cheryl’s dream was to spend her retirement in a Victorian house with a wrap-around porch. She and Larry realized that dream in January of 2009, when they purchased their Dayton, Iowa, home from then Attorney Leonard Holland. She spent her retirement decorating & entertaining in the family home, and sitting on the porch with her beloved Westie, Mactavish.

Survivors include her husband, Larry McCabe of Dayton, IA; daughter, Jennifer McCabe of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Andy McCabe of Dayton, IA; three sisters, Donna Davis of Las Vegas, NV, Marian Condonitti of Marine, IL, and Karen (Rob) Johnson of Louisiana, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
