D. Cireta Rickey

June 14, 1928 — August 2, 2010

Cireta Rickey, 82, died peacefully on Monday, August 2, 2010, with her family by her side after a short illness.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Gordon Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be at Robbins Cemetery, rural Woodward, Iowa. Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

D. Cireta Rickey was born June 14, 1928, to Claude and Amy (Goreham) Mowrer on a farm north of Perry. Cireta started country school west of Bagley and graduated 8th grade from Douglas School north of Perry. She went on to graduate from Perry High School in 1946. Cireta married Herrold A. Rickey from Woodward on June 2, 1946.

Mr. and Mrs. Rickey farmed south of Woodward until tuberculosis forced a move to Oakdale TB Hospital. To this union were born five children: Diane Lynn (Lee) Amundson, Connie Jo (Steve) Pearson, Mary Margaret (Mark) Boyd, Martha Jane Ervin, and Glen Arthur (Kristen) Rickey. The family has welcomed 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and will welcome two more in November.

Cireta devoted her life to taking care of her family, and she enjoyed every moment she spent with them. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who taught all of us what it means to take joy in the many simple pleasures life offers. She enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles, taking pictures of her family, watching the birds and squirrels that frequent her feeders, traveling to Branson, and working in her garden. Her family's fondest memories are of the times at the lake in Minnesota, where she could always be found on a boat with a fishing pole in her hand.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her husband, Herrold; her brother Leslie (Jeanie) Mowrer, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren , a niece Janene and nephew Kevin.

Memorials may be given to her family for a memorial to be decided at a later date.
