Daryl Ray Haub

September 16, 1938 — March 24, 2023

Daryl R. Haub, 84, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa.


Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 15, 2023, followed by celebration of life service at 11:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor’s Craig Vote & Kay. Christie will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow services at the church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., in the Dayton Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Peterson Post #323 American Legion. Daryl Ray Haub was born on September 16, 1938, in Fort Dodge, the son of Ezra and Eva (Featherstone) Haub. Daryl graduated with the Dayton High School class of 1957. He served his country in the United States Navy from December of 1958, until October of 1960, and then in the reserves until 1964. Following his honorable discharge, Daryl returned to work on the family farm. Daryl was married to Wuaneta Wilson from 1966 – 1979.


In 1983, Daryl was united in marriage to Donna Haub. The couple lived and farmed east of Dayton.


He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna Haub on March 25, 2020, siblings, Robert Haub, Ralph Haub, Audrey Iles, Lyle Haub, and sister in infancy, Vivian Haub.


Daryl was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dayton, and the Peterson American Legion Post #323. He enjoyed working on the farm and all that brought him. Daryl served on the school board and elevator board, and was known as the official Mayor of Hard Scrabble.


Survivors include his daughter, Janell (Steve) Reuscher of Clear Lake, IA; son, Ben (Rachel) Haub of Dayton, IA; one brother, John (Cindy) Haub of Dayton, IA; fivegrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.


Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
