Dixie Lea Johnson, 74, passed away due to Complications of Alzheimer's on Tuesday January 17, 2012 in her home in Boxholm with her husband Daniel by her side.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Boxholm. Rev. Dennis Shepherd will officiate. Burial will be in the Paton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

On February 15, 1937 Dixie Lea Hamilton was born in the home of Eileen and Raymond Hamilton in Dana, Iowa. Dixie and Daniel were married on October 18, 1959 in Paton, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born Danette and Danelle.

Through the years Dixie worked many different jobs at many different employers from her first job at Bankers Life in Des Moines, to her last job at Gates Manufacturing in Boone. She enjoyed her flower garden, camping and fishing with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dixie was always a side line coach as the girls showed horses in their younger years, this continued on with her grandchildren as they pursued their love of horses.

Dixie was involved in many community activities including being a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H Leader, as well as serving on the Boone County 4-H Youth Committee and the Boone Saddle Club Board.

Among the survivors are her husband Daniel; daughters Danette (Mike) Garcia of Paton, Danelle (Matt) Kemery of Lenox; Grandchildren Paige and Parker Garcia; sisters Colleen (Bill) Esdohr of Scranton, Judy (Ron) Lewis of Taiwan; brothers Bill (Janis) Hamilton of Grand Junction, and Jerry Hamilton of Centerville, South Dakota, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie came into the world at the home of her parents, and left the world at the home she made with her husband and family.
