Dixie Lee Jensen

March 21, 1927 — October 12, 2022

Dixie L. Jensen, 95, of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Ogden, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.


A celebration of life for Dixie will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Green Hills Community in Ames, Iowa. Those attending, please use the main entrance. Rev. Evelyn Lewiston will officiate. Burial was held prior to the service at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.


Dixie Lee Kuehnert was born on March 21, 1927, in Springdale, Arkansas, the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Thomas) Kuehnert.


In 1949, Dixie was united in marriage to Paul Jensen in Ames, Iowa. The couple had four children, Kathryn, James, Susan and Richard.


Dixie graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1945, and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Iowa State University. Following her education, she taught school in Iowa and Minnesota.


In 1996, Dixie and Paul built their home in Ogden, where they remained until moving to Ames in 2016.

Dixie was a member of Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. She loved puzzles, reading, golfing, painting traveling, camping and square dancing with Paul.


Survivors include her four children, Kathryn Watson, James (Jayne) Jensen, Susan (Scott) Schley, and Richard Jensen; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and her sister, Diane Hardestry.


In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jensen; and her brother, Lawrence Kuehnert.


Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
