Don Erickson

Don Erickson, 83, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Wade Brandt will officiate. Private family burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden with Military Graveside Rites conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Leonard Donald Erickson was born on August 3, 1930, in Ogden, Iowa, the son of Leonard Gustaf and Blanche (Groom) Erickson. He graduated from Ogden High School in 1949. Don married Ramona Sweeney on September 15, 1951.

Don worked at Northern Natural Gas Company in Ogden retiring in 1985 after 35 years. He served in the Iowa National Guard in Boone retiring as a Master Sergeant after 26 years.

Don enjoyed traveling, fishing, mowing lawns and woodworking. He enjoyed decorating the outside of his home for Christmas. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ramona; his daughter Melanie and her husband Larry Eckhart; two grandchildren, Megan (Gabe) Fiscus and Caleb (Sarah) Hockett; and two great grandchildren, Avery and Easton Fiscus. Don was preceded in death by his son, Spencer Erickson; sister, LaVonne (Bonnie) Hicks; and brother, Ron Erickson.
