Doris P. Rentschler

Doris P. Rentschler, 75, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Doris was a caring, loving and helpful person to all that she met. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. As Doris helped all those around her in life, she wanted to help others after life. She had requested that her body be donated to the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine through the Deeded Body Program.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to follow at McGuire Bend Cemetery, rural Dayton.

Doris Pauline Dutcher was born May 2, 1935, the 4th of 11 children born to Lawrence and Catherine Dutcher of Dayton. As a child, Doris had attended the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church and was recently baptized by Pastor Dot Hasler of the same church. Doris was united in marriage to Harold Rentschler on October 16, 1953, in a private ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Stratford.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Harold Rentschler of Dayton, Iowa; three daughters, Connie Hauswald of Wheeling, Illinois, Catherine Spreda of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Darlene Rentschler of Mundelein, Illinois; four grandchildren, Stacey and Ryne in Wisconsin, and Ron and Dan in Illinois; four sisters, Lucy Hagge of Dayton, Iowa, Joyce of Lincoln, Nebraska, DaVonne Berns of Dayton, Iowa, and Barb Sandholm of Fort Dodge, Iowa; one brother, Dale Dutcher of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Don and Ken; and three sisters, Mary, Lois, and Norma.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doris's name may be made to either: the McGuire Bend United Brethren Church, Israel Family Hospice House (400 South Dakota Ave., Ames, Iowa 50014), a charity of the contributor's choice, or left to the discretion of the family.
