Dorothy M. Clausen

Dorothy M. Clausen, 91, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 28, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Stephen Ude will officiate. Burial will be at Maas Cemetery rural Ogden. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Dorothy Mavis Buck was born on June 3, 1919, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Elsie (Davids) Buck. She attended schools in Riceville and Ogden. On January 1, 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lorenzo D. Clausen at the Zion Lutheran Church parsonage. The couple lived in Des Moines for a short period of time during WWII. Following the war, they returned to Ogden. They had also lived in Texas, Boone, and Hudson, before returning to their home base in Ogden. Lorenzo passed away on October 11, 1991.

Dorothy belonged to Zion Lutheran Church and the McGraw Sr. Citizen's Center in Ogden. She was an avid crochet, jigsaw and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and enjoyed collecting teddy bears.

Survivors include three sons, Kenneth (Jana) Clausen of Woodward, Iowa, Doug (Judy) Clausen of Delta, Colorado, and Alan (Jean) Clausen of Hudson, Iowa; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Jones of Ogden, Iowa; and a brother, Harold Buck of Mesa, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorenzo Clausen; a sister, Alma Breed; and one brother, Dallas Buck.

Memorials may be left to either: Zion Lutheran Church or the McGraw Sr. Center.
