Duane T. Housken, 91, passed away on Saturday morning, April 11, 2020, at his home in Lehigh.
Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time. Private family services will be held at Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton, followed by burial at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Duane Thomas Housken was born on September 12, 1928, in Lehigh, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Maudie (Fetrow) Housken.
Duane graduated with the Lehigh High School class of 1946. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his Country honorably during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sgt. 1st Class.
On February 13, 1955, Duane was united in marriage to Darlene “Bucky” Young at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Dan and Scott.
Duane farmed in the Lehigh area his entire life and was a DeKalb Seed Dealer for nearly 40 years. He was a member of Washington Lutheran Church in Duncombe where he served on the Church Board. He had also served on the Elevator Board, was a Webster Township Trustee, and a charter member of the Lehigh Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Darlene “Bucky” Housken on August 16, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Dan (Dana) Housken of Lehigh, IA, and Scott (Jennifer) Housken of Fort Dodge, IA; six grandchildren, Dane (Jamie) Housken, Hayley (Zach Keith) Thilges, Shannon Housken, Leslie Housken, Jackson Housken, and Christine Housken; four great-grandchildren, Barrett and Wren Housken, Casen Thilges, and Karly Keith; one brother, Keith (Annette) Housken of Marcus, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
