Elizabeth "Liz" Grossnickle, 64, of Dayton, Iowa, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at McGuire Bend Church, rural Dayton. Pastor Dot Hasler will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Elizabeth Ann Andrews was born on August 12, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of James and Bridget (West) Andrews. She attended country school in Evanston. On February 14, 1961, Liz was united in marriage to Richard "Gene" Grossnickle in Fort Dodge. The couple had lived in Evanston, Lehigh and Dayton. Liz worked at Franklin's Manufacturing in Webster City before transferring to Globe Union in Fort Dodge until retiring. Gene passed away on November 7, 2008.

Liz was involved in many church activities including the Dayton after school program. She collected Santa's, angels, and humming birds, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and making floral arrangements. She also enjoyed going to yard sales with her special niece, Pat Grossnickle.

Survivors include; two sons, Lonnie (Shawn) Grossnickle of Lehigh, Iowa, and Ron (Deana) Grossnickle of Lehigh, Iowa; six grandchildren, Paul, Travis, Aaron, Brandie, Dustin, and Breanna; companion, Richard Nemechek and his family of Dayton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Grossnickle; three brothers, William, James, and Benjamin Andrews; and three sisters, Mary Pigman, Amanda Rounds, and Virginia Grossnickle.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
