Ellen J. Blaskey, 82, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center surrounded by her family and friends

Ellen's body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 7, 2013, at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Pastor Michael Standfest will officiate. Ellen Jewell Flockhart was born on June 23, 1930, in Estherville, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Ruby (Carpenter) Flockhart. She received her education in Boone and was a graduate of Boone High.

On December 4, 1949, Ellen was united in marriage to Edward Elmer Blaskey in Boone. To this union one son was born: Eugene Blaskey.

Ellen and Eddie had lived in Fort Dodge where Ellen worked at Woolworth's and Kresge's Dime Store. They later established their home on a farm near Dayton and Ellen was employed as an Inspector at Central Labs in Fort Dodge for 30+ years until retiring.

Ellen belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Dayton. She enjoyed tooling leather, cooking, and was an avid reader. She also loved all animals and flower gardening.

Among the survivors are her husband of 63 years, Edward Blaskey of Dayton, Iowa; son, Gene (Bobbie) Blaskey of Dayton, Iowa; grandson, Nick (Amy) Blaskey of Lakefield, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, and Michael Blaskey; two sisters, Rosalie (Garold) Becker of Spencer, Iowa, and Shirley (Chuck) Mortensen of Fort Dodge, Iowa; brother-in-law, Harold (Sharon) Blaskey of Boone, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brian Blaskey; and a brother and sister in infancy, Robert Flockhart Jr. and Wanetta Flockhart.
