Florence Jolliffe

Florence Jolliffe, 89, of Ames, Iowa, and formerly of Dayton, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 22, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Rev. Dr. Karen Young and Steve Satre will officiate. Burial will be in the Dayton Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.

Florence Amelia Stang was born on July 3, 1923, in Gilmore City, Iowa, the daughter of William H. and Amelia S. (Grimm) Stang. She received her early education in country school and went on to graduate from Bradgate Consolidated High School and later Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. Following her education, Florence worked as a secretary in Des Moines.

On February 11, 1945, Florence was united in marriage to T/Sgt. Darwin Curtis Jolliffe at her parent's home in Humboldt, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Ronald, Kenneth, and Ramona. The couple lived and worked in the communities of Bradgate, Dayton, Burt, and Ida Grove, where Darwin managed the Big Six Cooperative and Farmers Cooperative Elevator's and Florence worked as a bookkeeper. In 1986, the couple retired and returned to Dayton. In 2000, Florence and Darwin moved to Ames. Darwin passed away on August 19, 2006.

Florence was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Women's Club, and the Dayton Golf & Country Club, holding various offices in these.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Ronald Lee (Bette) Jolliffe of Huxley, Iowa, Kenneth Gene (Nancy) Jolliffe of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Ramona Sue (Steve) Satre of Ogden, Iowa; nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darwin Jolliffe; two brothers; and one sister.

Memorials may be left to the United Methodist Church in Dayton.
