Gary Kingham

Gary Kingham, 70, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Bethel Church, rural Boone. Rev. Paul Frederick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, rural Boone. Gary Menges Kingham was born on July 21, 1946, in up-state New York the son of Henry and Shirley (Toft) Kingham. He attended Western State University in Colorado graduating with a Master's Degree in education.

In 1978, Gary was united in marriage to Janice Herbeck. They had a wonderful marriage for 39 years.

Gary was semi-retired and working at Ace Hardware in Boone. He belonged to Bethel Church, rural Boone, where he served as a trustee for many years. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished in many outdoor activities including running, skiing, and kayaking. He participated in the Skunk River Paddlers, National Ski Team, and had competed in four Boston Marathon's.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Kingham of Ogden, Iowa; three sons, Erik (Kerry) Kingham, Jason (Danelle) Kingham, and Henry (Nikki) Kingham; two step daughters, Kelly (Jose) Cobian, and Shawn (Joshua Hackney) Higgins; 11 grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Lee Kingham of Phoenix, Arizona; brother-in-law, Steven Herbeck; and father-in-law, Jerry Herbeck.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Gordon Kingham I, in 2013
