Irene Crowell

Irene Crowell, 93, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Ogden Manor.

Irene's wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Thomas Prochnow will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Private family burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Irene Magdalena Ely born on January 19, 1921, in Boone County, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and Mina (Wolber) Ely. She attended Fredrickson country schools and Perry High.

On December 15, 1940, Irene was united in marriage to Theodore Christian Crowell at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bouton. The couple lived and farmed near Perry for 16 years. They later moved to Beaver where they lived for the next 33 years. Theodore passed away on January 28, 1994. Irene moved to Ogden in August of 1994.

Irene had worked as a cook in the Beaver school system, the Harlan's Grocery Store in Ogden, and also as a nurse aide at the Boone County Hospital.

Irene belonged to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bouton and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. She enjoyed sewing, reading and spending time with her family.

Among the survivors are her four daughters; Martha Knight of Boone, Iowa, Deloris Harshbarger of Boone, Iowa, Mina (Randy) Bielfelt of Boone, Iowa, and Beth (Mike) Cleland of Ogden, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Theodore Crowell, son, Kenneth Crowell in 1974, son-in-law, Dean Knight, three brothers, and three sisters.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
