John Earll

March 12, 1946 — February 23, 2018

John L. Earll, 71, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

A celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Leonard Good Community Center in Ogden. Pastor Matthew Martens will officiate. Visitation will Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Leonard Good Community Center. A lunch will be provided upon completion of the service. John Lewis Earll was born on March 12, 1946, in Boone, Iowa, the son of John and Luella (Vaughn) Earll. He attended Ogden Community Schools.

On February 14, 1965, John was united in marriage to Janice Hendrickson at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.

John and Janice made their home in Boone until 1974, when they moved to the family farm near Ogden. They later moved into Ogden where they resided for 43 years. John was employed by Iowa State University as a Herdsman, and Mid State Steel, and George Rolfe's as a certified welder. After Rolfe's closed, he began driving truck for Boone Freight and later drove for Americas Best Freight, retiring in 2008. He loved to farm and raise livestock, which he did until 2016.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janice Earll of Ogden, Iowa; two sons, Stacy (Kelly) Earll of Boone, Iowa, Pat (Tiffany) Earll of Story City, Iowa; one daughter, Teresa (Mike) Marshall of Moingona, Iowa; five sisters, Viola Williams and Shirley Robertson both of Boone, Iowa, Alice Mae Deaton of Nevada, Iowa, Olive Upmeyer of La Pine, Oregon, and Jackie Davis of Torrance, California; eight grandchildren, Noah Hiveley, Heath Earll, Presley Moffitt, Mallory Earll, Morgan and Dane Erickson, all of Boone, Iowa, and Gracie and Tegan Oliver of Story City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Luella Earll, grandparents, Ira & Olive Earll and August & Lillian Vaughn, one sister, Marilyn Mitchell, one grandson, Austin John Earll and several aunts, uncles, and nephews.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family, in care of Janice Earll.
