Larry Lynn Kruse was born on September 3, 1940, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Mae (Swanson) Kruse. He graduated from Dana High School with his class of four in 1958, and attended Boone Junior College for one year. His interest in the airline industry and lack of funds to continue farming led him to enroll in Weaver Airline School in Kansas City in 1959. After graduation he was hired by American Airlines in Chicago and continued his employment with them for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. He took many trips and excursions with airline friends and family in his early years with American, but Larry's first love was farming, and at every opportunity he could be found home in Iowa helping his dad on the farm. After retiring, Larry moved back to be with his mother on the farm southwest of Ogden.

Larry loved being back in his farming community, loved his dog, Pik, and enjoyed the company of neighbors and friends. He was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. His strong faith in God brought him peace as he faced daily struggles with his health and we know that he now feels only joy in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Larry is survived by his sister, Linda (Darrel) Millard of Solon, Iowa; niece, Kristy (Ron) Fuller of Bettendorf, Iowa; nephew, Jeff (Melanie) Millard of Ely, Iowa; great nieces and nephew, Emily and Ben Fuller and Anna and Amy Millard, his beloved dog Pik, and several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Memorials may be left to either: Boone Area Humane Society, 228 16th Street West, Boone, Iowa, 50036, Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden, or the American Cancer Society.
