Lois Hunter

Lois I. Hunter, 86, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the Boone County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be in the Beaver Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.,

Lois Ione Norton was born on December 18, 1927, in Yell Township, rural Ogden, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Mabel (Zunkel) Norton. She graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1945, and went on to receive her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Following her education, Lois taught elementary education in the communities of Jordan, Boxholm, and Pilot Mound.

On June 25, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to John "Jack" Hunter in Boone, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Kyle, John N., and Ward. Lois and Jack lived and farmed in the Beaver and Ogden area for many years. Jack passed away on January 4, 1996. In 2002, Lois moved to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Lois was a loving and devoted grandmother and enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden where she was active in U.M.W.

Survivors include one daughter, Kyle Massey of Keswick, Virginia; two sons, John (Marye) Hunter of Beaver, Iowa, and Ward (Diane) Hunter of Ogden, Iowa; four grandchildren, Blair Weih, Anne Weih, Bryant Hunter (fiancé, Ashley Pyle), and Aubrey Hunter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, John "Jack" Hunter.

Memorials may be left to the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
