Mardella Goodpaster

Mardella Goodpaster, 85, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the Stratford Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 12, 2015, at the Christian Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Mardella Rose Pritchard was born on September 6, 1930, in Rockwell City, Iowa, the daughter of Orville and Flossie (Butrick) Pritchard. She grew up in the Rockwell City area before moving to Lehigh where she attended school.

Mardella was united in marriage to James Goodpaster on February 15, 1949. To this union six children were born: Doug, Kathy, Cindy, Tony, Pamela, and Sherry. The couple later divorced.

Survivors include her children, Doug Goodpaster of Vilas, Colorado, Kathy (Steve) Nichols of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cindy (Rick) Hansen of La Plata, Missouri, and Tony (Kelly) Goodpaster of Lehigh, Iowa; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda (Wayne) Moeller of Omaha, Nebraska, and Karen Brooks of Fort Dodge, Iowa; two brothers, Tom (Judy) Pritchard of Callender, Iowa, and Marian (Tin Tin) Pritchard of Upland, California; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Jim Goodpaster, daughters, Pamela and Sherry Goodpaster, two grandchildren, four brothers, Gerald, Dave, Carmen, and Roy Pritchard, and one sister, Joan (Marsh) Brown.

Mardella will be greatly missed by her family who she loved dearly.
