Marvin D. Pratt, 72, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Grandview Health Care Center Hospice in Dayton, with his family by his side.

Marvin has been cremated. A memorial service will be held 9:00 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Rev. Michael Standfest will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Marvin D. Pratt was born on October 12, 1937, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Glenn and Nora (West) Pratt. Marvin was united in marriage to Nancy Hansen in 1956 and the couple were later divorced. To this union four children were born: Keith, Krystal, Kathy, and Kevin. Marvin had worked at the Volkswagon Dealership in Fort Dodge and Kinsey Ford in Dayton. He later owned and operated a starter and alternator shop in Dayton until retiring.

Marvin loved to go fishing and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends who will deeply miss him.

Survivors include four children, Keith (Irene) Pratt of Seguin, Texas, Krystal (Craig) Johnson of Dayton, Iowa, Kathy (Ray) Heun of Dayton, Iowa, and Kevin (Deb) Pratt of Oxford, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Gabe Heun, Jason Will, Christopher Neagle, Donna Neagle, Dane Pratt, Seth Pratt, Keith Daniel, Jamie Kay, and Wendy Lynn; five great grandchildren; Mason Will, Kailee Will, Khane Smith, Katrina Neagle, and Isabella Neagle; two brothers, Melvin Pratt and Glenn "Junebug" Pratt Jr., both of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. His parents; three sisters; and four brothers preceded him in death.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
