Patricia (McDermott) Ankenbauer, age 81, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Eastern Star Home at Boone, Iowa.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 15, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p. m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden. Father James Bruch will officiate. Patricia Louise McDermott was born October 16, 1934 in Franklin Township, Greene County, Iowa, the sixth and youngest child of Thomas and Louise (Collins) McDermott. She attended school at Jamaica, Iowa and graduated in 1952. Following graduation, Patricia worked in secretarial positions in Des Moines in the insurance business.

Patricia was united in marriage to Wayne Ankenbauer on September 3, 1955 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Jamaica, Iowa. The couple lived in Des Moines until they started farming northwest of Jamaica in January 1957. In 1961, Patricia and Wayne moved to a farm northwest of Beaver, Iowa where they raised their family of five children. Patricia worked at The Globe-Free Press newspaper in Grand Junction for several years in the 1970s and then at Northern Natural Gas in Ogden, Iowa for 20 years. Patricia and Wayne moved from the Beaver farm into Ogden in 1990 and retired their farm operations in January 2001. They enjoyed playing cards with several clubs in the Jamaica, Beaver, and Ogden areas. Patricia was an active member of both St. John's Catholic Church in Ogden and St. Brigid's Catholic Church in Grand Junction as a catechism teacher and an RCIA instructor.

Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Wayne in 2014, son Paul in 2012, parents Thomas and Louise McDermott, sister Colleen (McDermott) Linder and brother Joseph McDermott.

She is survived by daughter Mary Nidetz of Thousand Oaks, California; daughter-in-law Jamie Ankenbauer of Coralville, Iowa; three sons, Joe (Penny) of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Bob (Mary) of Portage, Michigan; Bruce of Simpsonville, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Kyle, Kacie (Charles) Ware, Kate (Ryan) Hier, Tom, Lucy, Mary, Matthew, Jonathan, Jacob, Jack, Hailey, Colin; one great-grandchild, Jacqueline Hier; sisters Dolores Hankins and Maurece McCool; brother Patrick (Harriett) McDermott; brothers-in-law Harvey Linder and Dale Durbin; sister-in-law, Barbara McDermott.
