Ramona Erickson

August 20, 1932 — April 22, 2018

Ramona Erickson, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018 in the Hearth Stone memory care unit of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone after a long battle with Vascular Dementia and Parkinson's Disease.

Ramona Marlene Sweeney was born August 20, 1930 in Alleman, Iowa to Floyd and Bertha (Lark) Sweeney. The family moved to Ogden when she was a young child and she resided there until she entered the Eastern Star four years ago. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart, L. Don Erickson, on September 15, 1951 in Ogden.

Following graduation, Ramona worked for Iowa State University, Ogden Public Schools, Iowa Corn Growers Association, and City State Bank in Ogden.

Don and Ramona raised two children, Spencer and Melanie. She was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church. They had a very active life and traveled, fished, water skied, and camped and she was a big Hawkeye fan.

Ramona is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melanie Erickson and Larry Eckhart; two grandchildren and spouses, Megan (Gabe) Fiscus and Caleb (Sarah) Hockett; two great grandchildren, Avery and Easton; brother, Patrick Sweeny, and brother-in-law, Leo Johnson; along with nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. Don Erickson; her son, Spencer; sister, Rose Marie Johnson; brother, Owen Sweeny; and nephew, Brad Erickson.
