Rick D. Dawdy, 51, of Ogden, Iowa, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. Rev. Gordon Lundberg will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Boone Veteran's Council. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.

Rickie Dale Dawdy was born on October 25, 1957, in Boone, Iowa, the son of James and Barbara (Davidson) Dawdy. He was raised in Novato, California, and graduated with the Novato High School class of 1975. Following his education, Rick enlisted in the United States Navy. Rick was united in marriage to Teresa Smith on August 12, 1979, in Reno, Nevada. To this union two children were born, Brianna and Matthew. The couple lived in San Francisco, San Diego and Long Beach, California, and also in Italy while Rick served in the Navy. In 1997, Rick and Teresa moved to Ogden, Iowa, and Rick retired from the Navy in 1999. Rick later worked for Union Pacific and Patterson Dental Supply in Boone, retiring in September of 2007.

Rick enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Dawdy; daughter, Brianna (Anthony) Schelle; son, Matthew Dawdy all of Ogden, Iowa; four grandchildren, Madelyn, Abigail, Emma, and Lily Schelle; and one sister, Kandis (Marty) Snider of Madrid, Iowa; He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Denyiel Kaye Alberts; brother, Timothy James Dawdy; and his sister, Vicki Alberts.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
