Thelma Johnson

Thelma L. Johnson, 83, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at her home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Rev. Dennis Shepherd will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Thelma Leona Goodpaster was born on March 30, 1930, in Lehigh, Iowa, the daughter of Jay Asa and Pearl Ruth (Heslop) Goodpaster. She attended Lehigh schools .

On October 30, 1948, Thelma was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. They were blessed with three children: Lonnie, Christie, and Lorie.

Thelma had worked at Tobin's and Globe Union in Fort Dodge, and later owned and operated the Riverside Tap in Lehigh. She was a lifelong resident of Lehigh.

Thelma belonged to the Lehigh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include one son, Lonnie (Sandy) Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa; one daughter, Lorie Johnson of Lehigh, Iowa; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, husband, Raymond Johnson, daughter, Christie Johnson, five sisters, and four brothers, preceded her in death.
