Ted Semprini, 1931-2018
Loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend, Ted Semprini, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the Grandview Care Center in Dayton, Iowa, with his two daughters by his side.
Theodore M. Semprini was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on May 1, 1931, to August and Mona Dell (Morton) Semprini. He graduated from Lehigh High School in 1949 and Tobin Business College in 1955. In 1949, Ted entered the United States navy and served honorably during the Korean War.
On June 14, 1953, Ted married Joan Anderson of Dayton, Iowa. Five children were born to their union. A long-time Dayton resident, Ted was active in his community as a scout leader, little league director and coach, American Legion Commander, Dayton’s first Lions Club President, Sunday school teacher, and church board member.
Ted will be lovingly remembered by his children, Jeff (Julie) Semprini, daughter-in-law Carrie Semprini, John (Ann) Semprini, Jill (Paul) Nehman, and Julie (Kevin) Neal, his 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
Ted is also survived by his sisters Ilene (John) Larson of Dayton and Linda (Gene) Timmons of Webster City; brother Lary (Marilyn) Semprini of Ohio; Sisters-in-law Janis (Gaylord) Johnson of Panora, Avis (Jim) Russell of Texas, and Marilyn Anderson of Dayton; Uncle Alva Morton, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joan, his son Joe, his infant sister Mary, his brother Jack, in-laws Shirley Semprini and Leonard Anderson, and nephew Scott Semprini.
A private family graveside service will be held in the spring of 2019 in the Dayton Cemetery. Steve Satre will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Peterson American Legion Post #323.
Memorials may be left to Unity Point Hospice, the Emanuel Lutheran Church, or the Peterson American Legion Post #323.
