Betty Stringer

Betty J. Stringer, 93, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. Rev. Gary Hoyt will officiate. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Betty Joyce Barnett was born on May 2, 1922, in Argenta, IL, the daughter of Glen and Opal (Womacks) Barnett.

She graduated with the Rinard High School class of 1940, in Rinard, Iowa.

On July 12, 1945, Betty was united in marriage to Donald Stringer. The couple farmed east of Somers for 38 years. In 1983, they retired and moved to Ogden to be close to their daughter and grandchildren. Betty was a farm wife, cooking meals for Don and farm workers. Her Christian faith has always kept her busy with her church. Betty and Don enjoyed playing cards and camping. She enjoyed Bible studies, playing bridge, T.V., crossword puzzles and reading.

Betty was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Douglas) Smith of Ogden, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kevin (Abbie) Smith of Lake Elmo, MN, and Julia (Adam) Glawe of Jefferson, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Kylie and Noelle Smith, and Eli and Jonah Glawe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2008, and other family members.
