Bonnie Sorenson, 82, of Pilot Mound, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 16, 2026, at her home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 21, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Pilot Mound. Pastor Philip Berger will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, from 5:30 ~ 7:30 p.m., at the Church in Pilot Mound. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery. Bonnie Mae Nelson was born on March 2, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Alta (Cibert) Nelson. She graduated with the Fort Dodge Senior High School class of 1962. Later she furthered her education at Iowa State University in the veterinarian labs.

On June 17, 1962, Bonnie was united in marriage to Ronald “Larry” Sorenson at the Church of the Nazarene in Fort Dodge.

Bonnie worked as a Veterinarian Technician for James Lawton DVM and also artificially inseminated cattle, horses, and hogs. She was later employed by Lundberg Seed Farm near Pilot Mound/Boxholm, and Gates Corporation in Boone until retiring in 2008.

Bonnie enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years and also made western shirts for her family. In 2021, she was inducted into the 4-H hall of Fame. She served on the Boone County Fair Board, the Youth Committee, and served as the Boone County Parade Marshal. She enjoyed cooking and baking, making wedding cakes, and most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie is preceded in death by her brother, Danny Nelson, her granddaughter-in-law, Amber Sorenson, and great-grandchildren, Riley, Autumn, and Brayden Sorenson.Hambleton

Survivors include three children, Troy Sorenson, Trent Sorenson, and Cindy Davisson all of Pilot Mound, IA; eight grandchildren, John Sorenson, Chris Sorenson, Sam (Kaitlyn) Sorenson, Cassey Davisson, Adam Sorenson, Austin Sorenson, Becca Davisson, and Shelby (Cole Walters) Sorenson; two great-grandchildren, Emery Sorenson and Easton Sorenson; six siblings, Moffat (Terry) Nelson of California, Donny (Mary) Nelson of Fort Dodge, IA, Barb (Jay) Williams of Pilot Mound, IA, Vyron (Berdie) Nelson of Delhi, IA, Virgil (Erin) Nelson of Fort Dodge, IA, and Terri (Russ) Adams of Fort Dodge, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
