Carolyn “Carol” Erickson, 91, of Boone and formerly of Shenandoah, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Eastern Star in Boone, Iowa.

Carol was born on November 21, 1930, to Carroll and Florence “Irene” (Pehrson) Johnson in Shenandoah, Iowa. She grew up in Shenandoah where she graduated from Shenandoah High School. Carol attended Simpson College in Indianola and received her B.A. Degree at National College in Kansas City, Missouri. She became a Social Worker for three years in Kansas City. Carol then became Director of Christian Education for the Methodist Church in Perry, Iowa.

In 1957, while living in Perry, she met and married LaVerne Erickson of Ogden. She and Laverne then lived and worked their multi-generational farm and raising their three sons, Clair, Chris, and Curt. In addition to farming, they also started L & C Homes in 1968 and built the Country Aire Mobile Home Park in rural Ogden. After retirement she continued to work at Genesis Development for 17 years.

Carol enjoyed traveling throughout the world both with her husband LaVerne, and friend Erma Lee Newton. She was a member of Bethel Church where she was active in various church functions. Carol was a Master Gardener and volunteered at the Boone County Hospital.

In addition to her parents, Carol was also preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne Erickson, Granddaughter Kelli Erickson and brother, Clair Johnson.

Survivors include her three sons, Clair Erickson of Boone, Chris (Bryan) Erickson of Des Moines, Curt (Natalie) Erickson of Boone; 7 grandchildren, Nicole (Bryant) Allen of Polk City, IA, Jessica Foster of Ogden, IA, Zachary (Brooke) of Albion, IA, Travis of Gilman, IA; Whitney (Jeffrey) Regan and Jordan Erickson of West Point, Nebraska and 10 Great Grandchildren, Hailey, Camron, Kolton, Kinze, Makenna, Ryder, Greysen, Huxley, Levi, and Gabrielle; nieces and nephews, Jan and Vernon Scott, Jodie and Michelle Johnson, Jill and Eddie Torres; several great nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Donna Thompson.

A funeral service for Carol will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Bethel Church in rural Boone, Iowa. Pastor Josh McFarland will officiate. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. A visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden.
