Charlene Fae Lansing, daughter of Ralph and Mary (Chambers) Lansing was born on May 4, 1931, in Berkley, Iowa.  She received her education from the Berkley Schools in Berkley, Iowa.

In 1947, she married Clarence (Fred) Hickcox.  The couple later divorced.  In 1957, Charlene moved to Ogden with her five children.

On June 25, 1971, Charlene was united in marriage to Paul Pepper in Boone, Iowa. Charlene worked at Ogden Community Schools as a cook for over 25 years until her retirement in 1996.

She was a member of Community United Methodist Church until her marriage in 1971 when she joined St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden.  Charlene loved watching her flowers come up every spring.   She and Paul would plant a large garden.   They would harvest the crop and do a lot of canning so they could enjoy it in the winter.  She also taught Sunday school and was a den mother for cub scouts.   Look out if you were playing a game of Rummy Cube with her because she was very clever with her moves.  She also enjoyed going fishing and catch the big ones.

In addition to her parents, Charlene was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Pepper; nine siblings, one step daughter, and two granddaughters.

Survivors include her children, Tom (Cathy) Hickcox of Altoona, Frances (Rick) Lyons of Cambridge, Pamela (Russell) Hickcox of Tennessee, Fred (Judy) Hickcox of Ogden, Bill (Thouan) Hickcox of Des Moines; three step children, Mary Pepper of Ames, Becky (Don) Watson of Boone, and Colleen Sparks of Boone; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
