Douglas A. Mueller, 64, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services for Doug will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Peterson American Legion Post #323 of Dayton. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Douglas Alan Mueller, son of Richard and Rose Mary (Blanchard) Mueller was born on April 22, 1959, in Anamosa, Iowa. Doug attended Stratford Community Schools and graduated from Webster City Senior High School.
Following graduation, Doug worked as a farmhand in the Stratford area. He then began his career at Electrolux in Webster City until he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1980, where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. He was honorably discharged in 1984. Doug returned to Electrolux where he continued to work for over 33 years until the plant closed.
On June 3, 1981, Doug was united in marriage to Sharon Trausch at Elk Point, South Dakota. To this union, two children were born: Mindy and Matthew. The couple later divorced.
Doug enjoyed attending veteran group retreats with his veteran friends, catching fish, and gardening, especially raising his tomatoes. He also loved watching M*A*S*H episodes, had a love for all animals, and loved spending time with his family. Doug always appreciated a hug and enjoyed teasing his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Doug was also preceded in death by his brother, Franz Mueller.
Survivors include his dear friend, Sharon Trausch of Dayton; daughter, Mindy (David) EnTin also of Dayton; son, Matthew Mueller of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Clayton, Riley, Chayse, Meelie, Dakota, Mason, and Richie; sisters, Cheri (Bernard) Barringer and Renee (Jeff) Agan; brother, Mike (LaFrench) Mueller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
