Duane M. Townsend, 94, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.
Funeral services for Duane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Pastor Christopher Walters will officiate. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.
Duane Milton Townsend, son of Milton and Maurine (Pearson) Townsend was born on July 30, 1931, in Odebolt, Iowa. He graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Duane honorably served in the United States Army from November of 1951 until September of 1953.
On June 6, 1954, Duane was united in marriage to Aleta Kruse at Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. To this union, three children were born: Debbie, Randy, and Teresa. The couple resided in Ogden. Duane worked for 25 years at Ogden Grain Company and then was employed as a Foreman at Archway Cookies for over 20 years until his retirement.
Duane was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ogden. He enjoyed woodworking, where Duane and Aleta built their home, crafts, and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his newest great grandson, Grayson.
Survivors include his loving wife, Aleta Townsend of Ogden, IA; two daughters, Debbie (Steven) Harrison of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Teresa (Darren) Huntley of Ogden, IA; five grandchildren, Brent Harrison, Brad Harrison, and Blake Harrison, Ashley Brown and Whitney Schlicht; and many great grandchildren. Duane is also survived by his brother, Dudley (Marilyn) Townsend of Eldridge, IA; brother-in-law, Bill Mount of Palmdale, CA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Duane was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Townsend; brother, Kenny Townsend, sister, Lorene Mount; and sister-in-law, Joanne Townsend.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. A special thanks to the Eastern Star Masonic Home and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care of Duane and his family.
