Gary Henrichs, 63, of Boxholm, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 20, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. Pastor Rod Meyer will officiate. Gary Leon Henrichs was born on December 25, 1951, in Jefferson, Iowa, the son of Leon and Dorothy (Freeman) Henrichs. He graduated with the Grand Community High School class of 1970.
On September 30, 1972, Gary was united in marriage to Ann Hedblom at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. To this union two sons were born: Brad and Kevin.
Gary was employed at Oscar Mayer in Perry and later began farming the family farm and recently retired due to health issues. He was very proud of his farm and enjoyed raising sheep, goats, and chickens, and training horses. He treasured spending time with his son and family, and his granddaughters were the love of his life.
Gary belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. He enjoyed playing cards, hanging out in the card shack, and was an avid fan of Iowa State Cyclones.
Survivors include his son, Kevin (Chandra) Henrichs of Des Moines, Iowa; two granddaughters, Alexia and Kamryn Henrichs; mother, Dorothy Henrichs of Boxholm, Iowa; one brother, Denny (Linda) Henrichs of Rembrandt, Iowa; two sisters, Jolane (Keith) Stewart and Karen (Joel) Wolcott both of West Des Moines, Iowa; nephews, Jeremy and Clint Henrichs, John Adam Burt, and Kyle Wolcott; niece, Jillian Wolcott; aunts, cousins, and close friends; and Kevin's mother, Ann Benson.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Henrichs, and son, Brad Henrichs in 2011.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
