In Loving Memory of Janice Kay (Fohlin) Peterson June 5, 1939 – July 7, 2025

Janice Kay (Fohlin) Peterson went peacefully to her eternal rest on July 7, 2025. Born on June 6, 1939, in Hamilton County, Iowa, to Paul and Gertrude Fohlin, Janice grew up just outside Stratford and remained rooted in the community that shaped her. At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Athens Woods Apartments and a member of Stratford Lutheran Church.

Though she began and ended her life in Stratford, Janice's journey carried her through Conway, Arkansas; Forsyth, Missouri; Webster City; and Woolstock, Iowa.

Janice was a woman of many talents and curiosities. A voracious reader and master of crafts, she was a skilled seamstress who found joy in making things beautiful. Her love for collecting antique dolls, vintage dishes, and festive holiday decorations reflected her appreciation for history and tradition. Her kitchen was often a place of celebrations, where she delighted family and friends with her famous homemade salsas and peach cobbler—dishes made with love and remembered with fondness.

Janice and her husband Richard loved to go to music and variety shows while living near Branson; they also traveled to the Clay County Fair each fall camping with family and friends for the run of the event.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, Richard Peterson; her cherished son, Jeffrey Kraft; her sister, Norma Fohlin; and her brother, Daryl Fohlin.

Janice is survived by her step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her memory with affection and gratitude.

In keeping with her wishes, Janice’s cremains will be laid to rest next to her husband Richard in a private family ceremony at Washington Lutheran Cemetery in Duncombe. For online obituaries & condolences visit: www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com
