John Ivan Hill, 64, passed away suddenly on Monday morning, July 28, 2025, at his home in Ogden.

John Ivan Hill was born on April 30, 1961, in Texas, the son of John and Mary (Close) Hill. He graduated with the Dysart-Geneseo High School class of 1979. Following his education, he served in the Iowa Army National Guard for four years. He later worked in the construction field and at Quinn’s Machine & Foundry for several years. Finally, he worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad until retiring.
On August 10, 1985, John was united in marriage to Penny Jean Richards at McHose Park in Boone.
John enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and riding his motorcycle. He belonged to the Salvation Army.
John is preceded in death by his parents John Hill and Mary Graves, and two sons, Jeremy and Anthony Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Penny Hill; step-mother, Joyce Hill; step-father, Butch Graves, siblings Kelli Edson, Matt (Penny) Hill, Kevin Hill, Debbie (Scott) Hinde, Vicki (Dave) Stover, and Mary (Ron) Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews.
