Julie Renee Howard

Julie R. Howard, 63, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

A family conducted celebration of life gathering for Julie will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Leonard Good Community Center located at 114 SW 8th Street in Ogden, Iowa. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Boone, Iowa.

Julie Renee Nelson, daughter of Larry D. and Karen (Bass) Nelson was born on April 1, 1963, in Boone, Iowa. Julie grew up in Boone where she received her education and graduated from Boone High School in 1982. Following high school, Julie worked at the former Tic Toc Restaurant in Boone.

On May 7, 1988, Julie was united in marriage to Alan Howard at the First Baptist Church in Boone, Iowa. To this union four children were born: Christopher, Matthew, Lindsay, and Michelle.

Julie worked for many years at Thermomass (Leviat) in Boone, until retiring due to her failing health. She loved cooking and baking. Her family especially loved her hamballs and cheesy potatoes. Above all, Julie loved spending time with her family, especially her three grandsons, Cooper, Jaiden, and Ronnie.

In addition to her parents, Julie was also preceded in death by her brother, Brian Nelson; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Julie is survived by her loving husband, Alan Howard of Ogden; her two sons, Christopher Howard and Matthew Howard both of Ogden; her two daughters, Lindsay (Dustan Hanson) Howard of Logansport; Michelle (A.J.) Smith of Jefferson; her three grandsons, Cooper, Jaiden, and Ronnie Smith; her sister, Lorie (Larry) Ealy of Boone; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
