Lawrence “Larry” Greenfield, 77, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Burnside, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside. Pastor John Sheahan will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside. Burial will be at Lost Grove Township Cemetery, rural Harcourt, Iowa. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Greenfield – Hartquist American Legion Post #699, and the United States Navy Honor Guard. Lawrence William Greenfield was born on November 25, 1945, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Norman and Opal (Knigge) Greenfield. Larry graduated with the Central Webster High School class of 1964. He furthered his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge until being drafted into the United States Navy. He served his Country during Vietnam from February of 1966 until November of 1969
On September 5, 1970, Larry was united in marriage to Sharon Pauline Swanson at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dayton. They were blessed with two children, Stacie and Josh.
Larry worked for over 38 years at Webster County Secondary Roads in road maintenance. He belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside and V.F.W. Post #1856 of Fort Dodge. Larry enjoyed woodworking, playing cribbage, and watching his grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Sharon Greenfield of Burnside, Iowa; daughter, Stacie (David) Flagel of Urbandale, Iowa; son, Josh (Kris) Greenfield of Roland, Iowa; five grandchildren, Carter, Collin, Megan, Ben, and Aidan; two brothers, Doug (Sharon) Greenfield of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Marc (Jackie) Greenfield of Harcourt, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
