Lois Bernice Blair

September 30, 1928 — August 23, 2020

Lois Bernice (Peters) Blair, 91 years old, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2020 surrounded by her family at the home of Gordon and Joan Blair.

Lois was born on September 30, 1928 to Gesine “Sena” and Egbert Peters of Manson, Iowa. She graduated from Manson High School. Lois Peters was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Blair on June 2, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer Iowa. They were blessed with five children.

Lois and Jerry were longtime residents of Dayton, IA. Lois was a woman of great faith in Jesus Christ, and a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church of Dayton for over 50 years. Lois was a big sports fan, and loved rooting for her Cyclones and Hawkeyes. She took great pride in her home, and her flower garden. Her German upbringing could be seen is her sense of routine, her serious nature, her card playing skills (especially 500), and her dedication to family. She was soft-spoken but could catch you off guard with unexpected humor. She was a respectful and caring daughter, thoughtful sibling, devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished her time spent with her seven grandchildren.

Lois is survived by five children, son Gordon (Joan) Blair of Moorland, IA and their children, Samuel and Rachel; daughter Jeniece Blair of Olathe, KS; daughter Joyce Blair of St. Joseph, MO; son Bruce (Debbie) Blair of Elkader, IA and their children Alex (Arial) and Neil; son Van (Lisa) Blair of Waterloo, IA and their children Collin, Krista and Katelyn. She is also survived by two sisters Floreen Johnson of St. Joseph, MO, Velma Davis of Pocahontas, IA, sisters-in-law Mavis Hagberg and Marlys Blair of Sun City, AZ, brother-in-law Daryl Haub of Dayton, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant grandson Kade Blair, sister Maxine Hampton, brothers Wayne Peters and Harold Peters, sister-in law Donna Haub, and brothers-in-law Glen Johnson, Marvin “Butch” Hampton, Ray Blair, Karl Davis, Jim Blair and Wayne Hagberg.

A private memorial service will be held at Emanuel Lutheran Church of Dayton, IA. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be sent to Carson-Stapp Funeral Home, 406 3rd St. NE, P.O., Box 108, Dayton, IA 50530-0108.
