Lois A. Guldenpfennig, 83, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Windsor Manor in Nevada, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden, with Father Timothy Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden with recitation of the rosary beginning at 6:45 p.m. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.

Lois Ann Kennedy, daughter of George and Helen (Williams) Kennedy was born on September 20, 1941, in Jefferson, Iowa. Lois graduated from Grand Junction High School and then attended the State College of Iowa (UNI) where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1963.

On February 3, 1962, Lois was united in marriage to Donald Guldenpfennig at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Steven, Mark, Susan, Jim, and Marcia. Lois was a teacher at the Ogden Community Schools and then taught for over 25 years at Sacred Heart School in Boone. Lois and her husband Don also owned and operated the Golden Penny Restaurant & Lounge for over 4 years.

Lois was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden where she served on the St. John’s Parish Council and was a CCD Teacher. She was also involved with the St. John’s Choir and enjoyed decorating the church for every holiday. Lois served on the Boone Story Reading Council where she was a past president, Iowa Reading Council, International Reading Council, and Beginning Experience (Des Moines Diocese) where she served as a past president.  She was a devout Catholic and strong in her faith.  She loved spending her summers at her cabin, fishing and swimming.  She was an avid reader, loved doing puzzles and playing card games.  She loved learning and teaching.  But what brought her the most joy, was being able to spend time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Lois was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald; three grandchildren; and three sisters, Marilyn, Janice and Ruth.

Survivors include her five children, Steven (Laura) Guldenpfennig, Mark (Pat) Guldenpfennig, Susan (Mark) Wulff, Jim (Rhonda) Guldenpfennig, and Marcia (Kurt) Harvey; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
