Marty Murray

Marty Murray, 71, of Lehigh, passed on October 22, 2026, of congestive heart failure.

Marty Howard Murray was born August 19, 1955, the second child of William A. and Esther I. (Knox) Murray. He matriculated through the Central Webster Schools and received his GED. He later graduated from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with certifications in water and wastewater treatment. He worked for the cities of Webster City and Ames, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed farming with his brothers, working on almost anything with his son grandsons, and friends, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. He was an incredible storyteller and was known to make friends anywhere he went.

He is survived by his children Melanie and James (Jennifer) Murray, his three grandchildren Locklind (Liberty) Westberg, Tucker Murray, and Karina Murray, his great-grandson Leland Wayne Westberg, his siblings Sylvia (Darrell) Pigman, Susan (Keith) Thompson, William (Tracy) Murray, and Stephanie (Rod) Jones, and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Andy and Harold Murray.

A celebration of life will be held November 7, 2026, at the Lehigh Community Center, 114 Main St., Lehigh, from 12-4. He will be interred at a later date.

Marty will be sorely missed by all who knew him for his kindness, humor, and repair know-how; almost all learned the hard way. His memory will be cherished by his descendants and all who knew him.
