Orville J. McClelland, 96, of Lehigh, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. Pastor Richard Laird and Rev. Dave Grindberg will officiate. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh. Visitation will be Friday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton.
Orville James McClelland was born on October 4, 1913, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of James and Sylvia (Grossnickle) McClelland. On December 23, 1937, he was united in marriage to Martha Hoover in Bethany, Missouri. The couple established their home in Lehigh where Orville worked at the Lehigh Sewer Pipe and Tile for over 37 years. Martha passed away on December 3, 1981. On January 28, 1984, Orville married Lorraine Parsons at the United Methodist Church in Lehigh. The couple formed a loving bond that lasted over 25 wonderful years. Orville will be remembered as very loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine McClelland of Lehigh, Iowa; two daughters, Janet (Bennie) Birks of Topeka, Kansas, and Joan (Jim) Pingel of Plano, Texas; one son, Jerald (Chris) McClelland of Des Moines, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Joyce McClelland of Mesa, Arizona; nine stepchildren; many grandchildren, and great grandchildren; one sister, Hildred Fortune of Dayton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Martha McClelland; one son, James McClelland; and his stepdaughter, Pat Boitnott.
Orville's family would like to thank the staff of Tompkins Health Care & Trinity Regional Medical Center for their kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
