Pamela Sue Heun

Pamela S. Heun, 69, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away at her home on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

A funeral service for Pam will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Dayton United Methodist Church in Dayton, Iowa. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. A luncheon will be served in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Burial will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Stratford, Iowa at 12:30 p.m. A visitation for Pam will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Dayton United Methodist Church.

Pamela Sue Heun, was born June 19th, 1956, in Boone Iowa, daughter of Clyde and Blanche Ober. After attending school in Stratford, Iowa, Pamela married Dennis Eugene Heun On June 22nd, 1974. Together they had two sons, Brian Lee Heun (February 13th, 1976) and Kevin James Heun (August 15th, 1978). As a young mother of two, Pam continued her education and graduated from Iowa Central Community College with a Nursing Degree in May of 1981.

Her nursing career led her to Columbia, Missouri in August of 1981. Working with many different types of patients she found her calling with the neo-natal intensive care unit (NICU) at the University of Missouri Hospital. Working there until her retirement, she was known for the extra care and attention she provided for her patients and their families. During her time taking care of pre-mature babies, she often would make adorable outfits and memorable pictures that brought smiles to stressed out families when they needed it most.

Pam loved animals, gardening, crafting, cooking and singing. Her creativity and artistic talent showed up in sequined wiener dog outfits, handmade Halloween costumes, her love for tropical flowers, and creative desserts. More than anything, the love she had for her three grandchildren was beyond measure. The memories that she shared with them will always provide a richness that will carry on throughout their lives.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Heun, her son, Kevin (Karry) Heun, and her grandchildren, Ayla Heun, Cooper Heun, and Henry Heun; and her sister, Esther Santi.

In addition to her parents, Pam was also preceded in death by her son, Brian Heun; her five sisters, Jane, Velma, Lorraine, Louise, and Charlotte; and her six brothers, Dean, Phil, Jerry, Melford, Leonard, and Dale.
