Richard “Dick” Gustafson, 85, of Dayton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton.
A Celebration of Life service for Dick will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the United Methodist Church in Dayton. Pastor Kay. Christie will officiate. Burial will follow at the Dayton Cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be performed by the Peterson American Legion Post #323. Richard Lee Gustafson was born on November 8, 1939, in Omaha, Nebraska. He graduated with the Burnside High School class of 1958.
Following his education Dick served his country in the United States Army from December of 1961, until his honorable discharge on December 5, 1964. He was stationed in Colorado, Arizona, and Germany.
Dick worked as a mechanic and small engine repairman. His hobbies included collecting trains and participating in mini tractor pulls.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Oscar Gustafson, son, Chad Perrigo, and brother-in-law, David Crawford.
Survivors include his daughter, Krista Dunaway of Fort Dodge and her children, Kaystyn and Keaton; grandson, Tanner Perrigo of Spirit Lake, Iowa; one sister, Dolores “Dee” Crawford of Newbury Park, California; longtime companion, Anna Stephenson of Dayton, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
