Rodney "Scott" Ekstrom, 44, of Harcourt, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Rodney Scott Ekstrom was born on January 5, 1973, in Lake City, Iowa, the son of Lyle and Sarah (Irish) Ekstrom.

Scott graduated with the Prairie Valley High School class of 1991. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army, serving for four years. He later attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, receiving his Associates Degree.

Scott had worked various jobs and was currently employed as a machinist at Chantland Company in Humboldt. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed campfires, hunting deer, searching for morel mushrooms, and anything else outdoors.

Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Mary Irish and Clarence and Jaunita Ekstrom, his mother, Sarah Ekstrom, brother-in-law, Jim Eberle, nephew, Trey Hurley, and a great nephew, Zayden Vote.

Survivors include his son, James Ekstrom of Harcourt, Iowa; father, Lyle Ekstrom of Dayton, Iowa; siblings, Lois (Bob) Carlson of Farnhamville, Iowa, Rick (Joanne) Ekstrom of Dayton, Iowa, Randy Ekstrom of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Lisa (Art) Konold of Stanton, Virginia, Justine Ekstrom of Webster City, Iowa, and step brother, Ken (Chastity) Davis of Limon, Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
