Sharon D. Savits, 83, of Waukee, Iowa, passed away at her home on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by her family. A private family service will be held for Sharon. Burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden, Iowa. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.
Sharon adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She treasured her evolving roles as Mom, G‑ma and Great‑Gramma Sharon.
Sharon grew up in Stratford, moving to Ogden upon marrying Dennis Savits of which they welcomed their two children, Mike and Melissa. They divorced many years later and Sharon eventually moved to West Des Moines which she loved. The city lights and the Iowa State Fair were two of her most favorite things to enjoy, along with going to live music/food truck events and ice cream shop visits with her daughter Melissa. They were a bestie dynamic duo and had so much fun together in the big city. Sharon was also endlessly proud of her son Mike; proud of the father he became, and proud of the life he created. She loved having her grandchildren Leah and Logan over and enjoyed many outings with them in Des Moines while they were growing up. She loved seeing those grandkids have children of their own and her face lit up each time she saw her three great-grandchildren. Sunday family dinners became her favorite thing as of late and she took joy in decorating her place for each and every holiday to make our gatherings special. She loved celebrations with those she loved, enjoyed all holidays, as that was all together family time, which gave her so much comfort and joy. She loved playing UNO with the family and it always a bet on who’d win next.
Sharon was also known for her stylish flair, always put together, nails done, and often dressed in one of her favorite animal print items. She proudly passed down her love of animal print to the gals in her family.
She is survived by her daughter Melissa Savits (Mark) of Clive, her son Mike (Lisa) Savits of Ogden, her granddaughter Leah (Austin) Short and grandson Logan (Jessica) Savits of Ankeny, and Great Grandchildren; Oaklee, Aspen and Beckham. She is also survived by her sister Cindy, a niece and nephew and many other relatives and friends whom she held dear.
She is preceded in death by her parents Janice and Dale Kane and her brother Steve Kane.
Any memorials can be directed to the family who plan to honor Sharon’s memory with an Iowa State Fair brick and other meaningful tributes. We thank her for her spunk, her loving heart, her caring nature, and her bright determined spirit she passed on to our family. She will be forever loved and forever missed, and we are deeply grateful for all of the great memories, the shared laughter, and her shining light.
