Susan “Susie” Lawler, 92, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden, Iowa, with Father Timothy Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at St. John’s Catholic Church.
Susan Marie Judge was born on January 3, 1934, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of John Raymond and Mary Lorena (LaValle) Judge. Susie graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Boone with the class of 1951.
On June 4, 1952, Susie was united in marriage to Charles “Chick” Lawler at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone. The couple established their home on the family farm south of Ogden where they lived and farmed for many years. The couple moved into Ogden in 1998. Chick passed away on November 14, 2010.
Susie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden where she was an active participant in the Altar and Rosary Society. She dedicated her life to her faith and family. Susie especially found joy in time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Steve (Jane) Lawler of Urbandale, IA; her three daughters, Laurie (Ed) Finn of Johnston, IA, Amy (Terry) Swanson also of Johnston, IA, and Jenni (Kevin) Paulsen of Jefferson, IA; 11 grandchildren, Katherine (Craig) Ament, Elizabeth (Colin) Studer, Alison (Matt) Ruoho, Jackie (Everette) Petsinger, Emily Finn, Matthew (Jena) Finn, Zachary (Jen) Finn, Brent (Rachel) Swanson, Rachel (Jack) Spear, Matt (Bailey) Paulsen, and Lindsey Paulsen; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Susie was also preceded in death by her husband, Chick; and her brother and sisters.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
