Teresa Dawdy

Teresa M. Dawdy, 68, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Accura Health Care of Ogden.

Teresa Marguerite Smith, daughter of Donald and Barbara (Childers) Smith was born on March 29, 1956, in Pico Rivera, California.  She graduated from Gahr High School in Cerritos, California, and then studied child development at DMACC obtaining her Associates Degree.

On August 12, 1979, Teresa was united in marriage to Rickie Dawdy in Reno, Nevada.  To this union, two children were born, Brianna and Matthew. 

The couple lived in many places while Rickie served in the United States Navy including, San Diego and Long Beach, California, and also in Italy.   In 1997, Teresa and Rick moved to Ogden, Iowa, where she operated an in home daycare.

Teresa was an animal lover and had pet cats, and also raised guinea pigs, attending many guinea pig shows and competitions.  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling.  Teresa belonged to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden.

In addition to her parents, Teresa was also preceded in death by her husband, Rickie Dawdy on July 18, 2009, and her sister-in-law, Barbara Smith.

Survivors include her daughter, Brianna (Anthony) Schelle of Ogden, IA, and Murphy, NC; her son, Matthew (Madi) Dawdy of Boone, IA; four grandchildren, Madelyn, Abigail, Emma, and Lily; siblings, Valerie (Eric) Lowe of Long Beach, CA, Brian Smith of Lake Havasu, AZ, Michael (Lisa) Smith of Aztec, NM, and Shawn (Maribel) Smith of Burleson, TX; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Memorials may be left to the Boone Area Humane Society.
