Tim Strandberg

October 5, 1957 — April 4, 2024

Timothy Jack Strandberg, Dayton, Iowa, was welcomed joyfully to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, after spending time at MercyOne due to heart failure. A celebration of life service for Tim will be held Monday, April 8, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at the Dayton United Methodist Church. Pastors Glen Hanson and Steve Satre will officiate. Burial will follow at Dayton Cemetery also in Dayton. A visitation will be held from 4-6 PM April 7th at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton. www.carsonstappfuneralhome.com


Tim was the son of Jack and Mary Lou (Okey) Strandberg. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on October 5,1957. He lived in Dayton, Iowa his entire life. Tim graduated from Dayton Community High School in 1976 and was a member of the Dayton United Methodist Church. He continued his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa where he received a degree in drafting.


On August 19, 1978 he married his high school sweetheart and best friend Cheryl Hanson. To this union were born two beautiful children, Ben and Mariah.


Tim was very active in the Methodist Church. He was a member of the UMM group, a member of the Administrative Board, which he also had chaired, Trustee chairman, and Education chairman. He and Cheryl were co-leaders of the youth group DUMMYs (Dayton United Methodist Magnificent Youth). Tim, with the help of the adult Sunday School class, started a Second Sunday Dinner open to any who were hungry.


Tim had participated in and enjoyed Emmaus where he was able to enjoy and perform his culinary skills. He also chaired many meals and events at the Methodist Church. Some of which included the Labor Day breakfast, the Second Sunday dinners, and any meals the youth group did to raise money. Tim was also asked to cater meals for different groups and friends. Tim enjoyed woodworking. He helped his father make a wooden canoe and also helped him with the design and building of their home where he and Cheryl live today. Tim would spend a lot of his free time in the shop working on both small and large projects for friends, family, and his wife. A very talented craftsman that he passed on to the next generation. Tim enjoyed golfing and watching his grandchildren play and have fun on the farm.


Tim farmed from 1978 - 1993. After getting his drafting degree he worked at Celotex in Ft. Dodge, IA. He went to work as a drafter and salesman for Quinn Machinery and Foundry in Boone, IA. In 1998 he went to work for IMAGINiT in Des Moines, IA where he was a project manager until he retired in 2023.


He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl, of 45 years, son, Ben (Laurie) Longview, TX and daughter Mariah (Rich) Duszynski Story City, IA, four grandchildren Megan, Rhett, Memphis, and Dodge, Aunt Beverly Strandberg, Uncle Charles (Marilyn) Strandberg, sister-in-law Priscilla Kruse, cousins, nieces and a nephew.


He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Lou Strandberg, brother-in law Dennis Hanson, and niece Sara Grochowicz.
