Verle A. Toyne, 91, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m, on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Private family burial will be at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden. Carson – Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is caring for Verle and his family. Verle Allen Toyne, son of Glenn and Lillian (McMullen) Toyne was born on March 18, 1928, in Atalissa, Iowa. Verle served in the 40th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict, both on the front line and as a supply Sergeant. Verle and Lois were married in 1948 and farmed in the Boxholm and Pilot Mound area.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann (Rick) Schultz of Roseville, MN, and Lori (Phil “Pete”) Longmeier of Streamwood, IL; one grandson, Andy (Amanda) Schultz; his great-granddaughter, Anika Schultz; and his sister, Gladys (Toyne) Dixon.
In addition to his parents, Verle was also preceded in death by his wife, Lois Toyne, step-mother, Lillian Snell, and his brother, Duane Toyne. Verle places in honor two aunts, Elizabeth Toyne & Elsie Toyne, who helped raise him and Duane after their mother’s death.
Memorials in Verle’s name may be directed to the following: V.F.W, Salvation Army, or the First United Methodist Church in Boone.
